Xtra Heat was quite a racehorse. She is the all-time leading female in North American racing with 25 stakes wins and her offspring are living up to their famous mother. Her first foal Southwestern Heat (4) is a stakes winner and Grade 3 placed. Her second foal X Rated Cat (3) is a talented sprinter on turf and dirt. He is always in the money and is already stakes placed. Her newest star is Elusive Heat. She was a $750,000 2 year old and she lived up to her purchase price today. She was given "TDN Rising Star" status with this victory.
Elusive Heat, who prepped for her debut with a bullet four-furlong drill in :47 4/5 over the Belmont training track Oct. 5, sped from the gate and set fractions of :22.19 and :44.96. The 4-5 favorite lengthened her advantage on the turn and completed the five furlongs in :56.81 before sailing under the wire geared down by 5 1/2 lengths. Sheikh's Seranade (Unbridled's Song) was second, 4 1/4 lengths to the good of Southern Charmer (Dixie Union).
Congratulations to owner Martin Schwartz and trainer Kieran McLaughlin. Xtra Heat has a weanling by Songandaprayer and is in foal to Street Cry.
