There was a new stakes horse for Champion Xtra Heat when her 3 year old son X Rated Cat (pictured left), by Storm Cat ran third (actually finished second but was disqualified) in the Gilded Times Stakes at Monmouth. Congrats to Southcoast Stables and thanks to Tim Salzman trainer. This wonderful mare is passing on her strength and class to her offspring and both of her runners are winners and stakes horses.
Mary Kies also had a new stakes horse this weekend. She is a stakes winner herself and Grade 3 placed. This weekend her 2 year old daughter Twelve Kies (by Fusaichi Pegasus) was placed in the Freedom of the City Stakes at Northlands Park.
There was a nice update for the family of La Gueriere and her daughter Alta Love when Munnings (by Speightstown) ran an unlucky third in the Grade 1 Hopeful at Saratoga having completely missed the break. This was just his second start. He is out of La Comete a daughter of La Gueriere and a half sister to Alta Love. He was a $1.7 million 2 year old in training purchase. The family is also boosted by Icon Project in 2008. She is stakes placed in just 4 starts in England. She is a 3 year old daughter of La Gueriere and was a $775,000 yearling purchase.
Rose Bourbon has a nice 2 year old in France. Her daughter Princess Roseburg (by Johannesburg) was a winner in an allowance race in Deauville. From 4 starts she now boasts 2 wins and 2 seconds. Congratulations to Shannon White and Fares Farms the owners.
Sisters to Lovely Sage, Ginseng, Justine, Cosa Lucinante, Go For It Lady and Wilzada were all represented by stakes winners or stakes placed runners.
